I Have Beautiful Scars
"It has been said that time heals, I do not agree with this, emotional pain create scars, sad and sometimes beautiful; invisible scars and we cope, but the scars are never gone." Quote by _Poet I have been running for most of my life, but, once I was carefree, happy and unflawed; until life stabbed my young heart with a knife, for when my older sister died I was shock-awed. From that day I was frozen in a silent tomb, I was a little girl wrapped in a cloak of gloom; too young to run away but I did in my mind, could hear and see but inside me nothing twined. I chose to run, but had I stayed . . . When I was a teen I did run fast and far, had no destination but I felt at last free; the people I met were both nice and bizarre. I walked the streets lost in a vast people sea. Along the way I met a handsome man, lived with him for awhile and then I ran. Took a bus to another city quite busy, where I met a guy who made my heart dizzy. I chose to run, but had I stayed . . . One day I realized what I was looking for, so went home and knocked on my parent's door; my family was so happy with love beautifully pure, I held my parents and finally let my pain pour. I chose to run, but should have stayed . . . Had I stayed then I would have had support I would known love and had a safe port would not have wasted years running, running and each one of my days would be stunning well, as they say, it is never too late by going home to family love I changed my fate "Now, I embrace what made me a poet, my beautiful scars." _____________________________ November 03, 2022 Poetry/Rhyme/I Have Beautiful Scars Copyright Protected, ID 11-1498-781-03 All Rights Reserved, 2022, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, I Chose to Run, But Had I Stayed sponsor, Anoucheka Gangabissoon, Judged 11/26/2022 Third Place
