The Honey Bee
The springtime sunrays shined on the wood From wild flowers drifted the sweet scent The branch of the rejuvenated trees would Try to grow high hearing the call the sky sent. Sensing the scintillating smell the busy bee Flew enticed from somewhere to the scene Sucked the flower nectar as swift it could be Within its hidden ware made honey not seen. The alluring branch of a tree came in sight Swaying in slow rhythm with the rising mist On its caring cradle the bee saw the best site To build a hive that would later be missed. As surging storm swept across the sky blue By the tearing thunder the tree got rapped The hive full of honey broke as the gale blew Succulent splinters the sodden soil wrapped. Rain-rinsed flowers flashed in the morning Under sunburst sparkling sky in dawn new Splashed honey sent the bee into mourning But that was how nectar returned it knew. ______________ October 8, 2022 Contest : Homophone Rhyme Sponsored by : Hat Bueckert
