Relentless
Slanted rain patters on the tin roof Heavy, then easing off before returning with even more intensity Like an emotional being getting upset As the tears fall and sobs turn to relief… Until the thoughts come back around Realer this time When it’s steady but soft it inspires me And through the window I watch it fall from the sky Barely visible But the sun shines through at an angle and you can just notice it Against the dark forest background Millions of drops of water pour from above And it’s hard not to realize that it is the Universe shedding its own tears Weeping to heal There’s comfort in the rain Perfectly illustrating that sadness is the only way for us to grow Boy am I growing It’s that torrential sort of rain that lets up for a little bit But is sure to come back all day, maybe for longer You don’t really know when it will end So you try your best to think about all the blessings that come While the world is wet
