October 19
Diamonds and pearls twinkle in the moonlight, Lost in a labyrinth of their own design, The last of their kind. I hurry through the maze, In an futile attempt to find them, And bring them back to me, Bring back who they used to be. Golden hair and kind eyes, Peppermint candies and classic lines, Sugar cubes hidden in seems, All bring you back to me. I didn’t appreciate them truly, Until they were already leaving me, Getting washed out to sea, Never coming back to me. They created the world I live in , As well as the labyrinth they are trapped in, Both flawed and beautiful, At least to me, Unforgettable, In every possible degree. Five turns right, Nine turns left, I reach the centre, Breathless and hopeless, To deal with what lies ahead. They have been engulfed by the maze, Distracted by the haze, Shine whittled down to dust, Diamonds spewing rust. I saw it coming from miles away, And yet I still sit there, Feeling numb, Wishing for tears to come. Everything has wilted and fallen apart, Including their mind. They truly were, The last of their kind.
