Amusan's Tears
Amusan's Tears Amusan's tears says something, That thing is very far from nothing. First, it was an infectious smile, Later, it became tears from a mile. This tears goes beyond the victory, It carries that which is not a mystery. Yes, the gold medal has been won, After engaging in the stressful run. The flag is flying frighteningly high, I don't know if I should heave a sigh. The world is standing up for Nigeria, Popularly known as the giant of Africa. Nigeria is celebrated at the world stage, But her citizens are trapped in a cage. Tears rolling down the cheeks every day, Because of bullets not intended to stray. Many are swallowed by the untimely grave, Including those who were always brave. They are tearful walking on poverty's crutches, Saying life has thrown at them forceful punches. If you decide to put these men on those chairs, I will take your minds back to Amusan's tears. Paschal Aroke ©2022
