These Arms
These Arms Two arms outstretched to hold you close, empty of substance but full of a love freely given. Capable to help you through the windy streets of life, hold the umbrella of compassion when the hurt of day brings you down. Fingers opened wide to entwine yours when you falter, lift you up and wipe the tears when others tear you down, to dab gentle lips that quiver when you feel all hope is gone, these arms are yours when all you need is just one embrace. The light you brought to a tunnel full of darkness, a guide to a love missing for so long that life was a journey full of quiet despair. Riches unseen you bring to eyes now open and arms to fill. First thing in the morn and last at night when the moon is high above the horizon, to reach out and feel me near all fear cast aside, cradled in these arms not just for one but each and every day we share. Promises made never broken, mistakes I’ll make but will be there to make amends with these my arms wide open for you my dear. By Patrick D
