Upon the Breath of Spring
Winter's white coverlet has finally melted away from over my garden's sleeping botanical beds. Babes from crocus bulbs peek above the ground on this sun filled morn, warmly greeted by golden rays. Zinnias of every color sway upon the breath of Spring. Flowers are burgeoning with layers of petaled blooms. Thus far in this refreshing season, gentle breezes have gently bleated like a lamb. Morning dew now serves to quench the budding thirst of climbing roses as they wake from dormant slumber. Upon the zephyr wind wafts the sweet scents of Nature's blended perfumes, and I feel in harmony with the land that makes me want to sing! Soon, April will be along with her rain-filled watering cans to replenish the earth's reservoirs at the command of dahlia and peonies, whose tall stems need a drink to stand erect. From my window, I see a wave of goldenrod in the meadow, for God has not forgotten the need of lilies in His fields. Wisteria, both lavender and white, hug my garden wall. Sometimes I wonder if the vine's entwining arms are preventing it from falling. Today, I saw a pair of blue jays nesting there, and hungry robins pecking the earth to capture a plump worm or two. There's something special about Spring that reassures me that no matter what ugliness takes place in the world, beauty is all around us, renewing our hope for brotherhood.
