Beatitudes Blessings and Commentaries Part Three
6) Q: What is meant by the sixth Beatitude in Mathew 5:6: by "blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness?" A: In this prime example it applies to righteous people fasting which means going without food and/or drink. And instead spending their time studying God's holy word accomplishing righteous deeds to further the kingdom of God on earth. All done for both His name's sake, for His glory and for His will (His purposes!) Q: What does it mean for they shall be filled? A: It is probably not referring to actual food and drink. What it does probably mean is being filled with His righteous Holy Spirit instead! 7) Q: What is meant by the seventh Beatitude in Matthew 5:7 by " blessed are the merciful?" A: the word compassionate good deeds could also apply in the case of the good Samaritan showing mercy upon a lone Jewish traveler. Who was attacked and robbed on the Jericho road and left for dead. Another instance is showing Christ like compassion in the case of the publican who cried out: "Lord be merciful to me a sinner! And showing mercy to those who have sinned against us by following His example! Q: What is meant by they shall obtain mercy? A: It means God will also be merciful to them as well both in this life and in their brand new lives in God's kingdom in heaven and on earth! 8) Q: What does it mean in the eight Beatitude in Mathew 5:7 by "blessed are the pure in heart?" A: If a Christian or a Messianic Jewish believer is pure in heart it means that they are not the polar opposite of being wicked in heart. It means not having any evil or not pure motive for doing good deeds for example. It means keeping our thought lives pure by placing all of our focus and all our hope in God instead of this wicked and adulterous contemporary generation. It means avoiding worldly and evil mind contamination! It means not to harbor lust in our: mind, bodies, souls and spirits! It is better to be a righteous pure in heart person today instead of a wicked person! Praise our Lord Alleluia! Roxanne Lea Dubarry Roxy Lea/ October Country February 27, 2022
