A Subconscious Meeting
I was walking a lonely road , my shadow as my only companion . Suddenly , I heard a crack quite brute the sound of probably a rusty boot . I paused right at my track and looked from where came the crack and as I turned and watched my back , I saw a figure , all in black . As I asked ,”Who are you ?” found out the dream was too good to be true . So as I hesitated and looked behind , I received my answer ,”I am you .” “I am you , but rather your past .” I decided to play along ,”How do you do ?” “Not too good , to be so true .” “I know , I know , I’ve been through my past .” “Life just goes on way too fast and my world is full of lies and lust .” “I am really sorry for being so miserable .” “It’s okay , it’s okay , little selfishness is desirable.” Tears rolled down either of my cheek . “Are you in pain?” , asked my other self . “Yes...I repent for what I did .” “I see . You have passed my trial . You shall be helped.” He took a dagger out from his coat . “Take this dagger....and cut my throat . No hesitation . Sever your thread to your past and you shall be free until you last .” As I stood between my past and future , I wondered which one was better for me . But just like every other choice , this too was a wager . “Thank you....” cried I , and swung the metallic dagger. “You are now free .” he smiled and said , and thus he dissipated into the thin air . I wondered if what I did was truly for the better but realized , every two choices are really just as fair .
