The Forest, Never To Return, Part 3
Reggie, what is it? Who’s there? Reggie, ANSWER ME REGGIE! What do you see? It’s OK Jean It’s just-- that idiot Goober Knotts The milkman Goober, whatcha doin’? It’s two in the morning You scared us to death What were you thinking? Sorry, Reg, I, I, didn’t mean . . . Mean WHAT, Goober? I don’t know, but, I had to come Come now? Why? It’s the children, Reg, YOUR children What about my children? I saw them talking . . . To a cloud So, what’s your problem, Goober No problem, Mr. Reg It’s just that—the cloud Yes, what is it, Goober The cloud . . . Suddenly, we heard Goober scream In an instant, a dark mist Enveloped him Goober, where are you! Alas, it was too late Goober was gone The black “cloud” took him Later that night, we heard the sound Of lightning and thunder When we pulled back the curtain An unusual white liquid was pouring down How freaky, I said to Reg What is this, some sort of industrial waste Armageddon? Hold me, Reg! Upon closer inspection, the milky white substance Turned out to be . . . milk! We pondered that fact The rest of the night Tell me, Jean, do you miss Goober? No Reg, not really, but someone will Who, Jean? I don’t know . . . but somebody . . . I think the milk was Goober’s way Of telling us, hey family Don’t worry, I’m in a better place These dark cloud creatures--aren't so bad As for the children They returned to their former selves Building bonfires, burning bugs In the backyard!
