House of Cards
I once built a house of cards. At the top's the queen of hearts. Diamonds glitter, clubs grow like clovers Spades decorate the castle all over. Carefully constructed, everything in place My home is perfect from the top cards to the base. I am its chief, its builder and king I unlock its door and let the bells ring. Open to the world, people trickle in. It's meant to be a safe place for them and their kin. Out of curiosity, its first guest mentions its impurities Pointing out each flaw and every insecurity I take a step back, then two, then five. The card house is trembling as if it's alive. Shaking on my head, each card collapses to the ground The kingdom's all falling; it's entirely been downed. I'm filled with memories of agony and pain Forced to relive it all once again. I clench my fists, then let them go. And away to the wind I let my card house blow.
