You'Re Dot Dot Dot
You're ... You’re the roof that gives shelter, more home than abode, and in times of your absence, known truth’s ‘roof is gone!’ (1) It’s your presence that nurtures my garden of rhyme. It’s the air you breathe out that I hope to breathe in. You’re rest’s peace, you’re sun’s play, my original sin. You’re dawn’s feet couched on lap, thoughts that drift (post commode), when you ring me from work, ‘afternoon of a fawn’ (2) that’s awakened from nap in hide’s shelter from time. You’re the gift I can’t earn. You’re life’s rainbow’s soft curve, its back arched like a cat that’s expecting a rub, yours a purr that I feel, a vibration that’s heard (whose acknowledgment buds in the depths of the soul!) You’re in movements of tides far beyond man’s control, wells in deserts, a riff from invisible bird in a forest’s tall tree or a meadow’s low shrub, whose frail notes (so past tense) rise to heaven’s preserve. Long Tooth December 15th in 2021 Poet’s Notes: (1) A Russian expression that suggests that all normal bounds have been exceeded, that one’s mind has been blown away. (2) A famous idyllic musical composition by Claude Debussy which was inspired by a poem by Stéphane Mallarmé.
