The Meadow Beckons Me For a Stroll
The weather has warmed from yesterday’s chill, And the meadow beckons me for a stroll It has that strong magnetic pull for me still. Near the start of the path, I hear a familiar trill Though cold northern winds have taken their toll. The weather has warmed from yesterday’s chill The air catches in my throat as my dry lungs fill, But I am so determined to meet my intended goal It has that strong magnetic pull for me still. It’s the sound of the mockingbird beyond that hill Still very much alive and baring its hardy soul, The weather has warmed from yesterday’s chill I am so glad I came to the meadow and the rill With this slight pause during the seasonal droll, It has that strong magnetic pull for me still I shall stay in the meadow this evening until I can no longer see beyond that yonder knoll It has that strong magnetic pull for me still, [and] The weather has warmed from yesterday’s chill. written December 8, 2021 [I have taken very minor liberties with this exquisite French form.]
