In the Beginning
Who’s to believe it isn’t true? The heart wrenching reality of it all, so easy to set up Everything you need, all that you wanted And then, there was light, there was earth and water There was you and then… And then there was me Me, the forbidden fruit; me, the green of the leaves that shielded human flesh The sky, the ocean, the grass, the world…it was all me Who’s to say I am not the reason for life, for pain, for love How would you know? Because in the beginning it was only me The creation of all creatures took such time and dignity, it took me My power, my devotion, my anger…such anger Choices and decisions were left to me, left to my thinking And then I said, let there be light, let there be darkness Let there be peace and war, let there be love and hate Let there be such words that would cause evil amongst those who spoke it But in the beginning it was only me, so what was I supposed to do? Yes, destroy the world that I have created Destroy all that I have made and turn it into something new A different look, a fresh start…a new beginning But in the end, Satan called himself God too Written January 22, 2009
