Better Living Through Chemistry
Better Living Through Chemistry? With chemical kindness, this life’s demagogic, genetics of chance gives some lifeforms a leg up, but ‘dust back to dust’ sings Time’s Brownian movement as years guide all matter (the refuse of starlight, frail islands of warming) toward entropic heat death. Disorder’s the anti-Christ, absence of shining. Creation, the ‘Big Bang,’ from nothing designing astounds expectation (the void seems to draw breath). Black hole’s stars birth depth, pirouetting in night flight spin, merge, and evolve more new change through denouement. If God’s not the source of what “IS,” does a hiccup explain how ‘real love’ seems indulged by pure logic? Sleep apnea ties me to chemical dreaming if REM sleep’s to visit the halls of night’s castles. But what makes nights better can make one’s days drowsy. Might driving alertness sink under what’s prudent? Day’s chemicals called on to white out the night ones. Who monitors seniors, sees meds all get taken? The limbs of this tree, I think, hardly get shaken. Political posturing casts vague aspersions that poison truth’s well for both staid and the ardent, all feathers get tarred, all relations feel lousy (the bold get deemed bullies, the shyer called vassals), for chemistry fails life that counts more on scheming.
