Cleo and Me and You
It was me, Cleo and you. Occasionally hugging, occasionally kissing. Along the promenade we walked, Enjoying the light breeze from the sea, As the crimson sun began its silent descent. Arm in arm all three, elated, we approached The ancient tavern at the end of the stroll. People watched, and people wondered. They formed their judgement as was their wont. We cared not. We found a cosy corner in the tavern, Me, Cleo and you. Strange but we all liked the same food. So accordingly, we placed our orders. Music wafted in the room, Pleasant as soft dancing music should be. People watched, and people wondered. They formed their judgement as was their wont. We cared not. As night was lit by flashy all aglow neon signs, We betook ourselves to our favourite disco, Where music was varied and enchanting. All three of us danced together, It was a natural thing to do. People watched, and people wondered. They formed their judgement as was their wont. We cared not. Then a friend approached and gently asked “May I borrow your sister?” Cleo smiled and departed willingly As all four of us whirled and swung merrily. I held my love tight and kissed her sweet lips. People watched, and people wondered. And all lost any further interest. We cared not. Placed 2 10 August 2021 'Your Favorite August 2021 Poem-' Contest Info Sponsor Constance La France
