My serenity prayer
Confinement is getting on our nerves, a truth for all. For elderly people it is more obvious, jobs, living expenses and related other anxieties. Windows serve in many useful ways. I see a couple whenever I open my window, with a little girl. Day before yesterday I had a big soulful discussion with my little one over the phone. He took the phone in his backyard. I could see the green peach tree there. “Ammu, see the caterpillar ?” “Yes, baba.” “Keep on watching that. Let me finish my lunch.” I kept on watching. I could hear him. He is like that. And it brightened my day. Once I was deciphering an art and could not understand anything. I asked him,” What do you see baba in there?” My little one, an eight-year-old then, asked me back,” It is harmony. Can’t you see that? No. I cannot see that. The little one who once resided in me is gone. Just like a closed chapter. I came near the window. The little girl’s father is alone and continuously telling something to himself. He does not have a phone, He was hitting himself in utter frustration. I started cleaning. I am never a good cleaner. This is the only thing that my medication derailed me from. Daily chores. A big, big motivation is needed there for me to go on. The man is still there. With his little daughter. The prettiest scene in the world. Lord, Grant us in serenity. Grant us in your blessing and mercy, not in your anger and wrath!
