A Tender Moment From Childhood
In days of old,                                                                one's stay in the hospital was long.                                 I was five when I awoke screaming,                                the pain was like a knife in my side.                                My dad's loving arms wrapped me in a blanket,                gently placed me on the back seat of the car.                    Quickly off to the hospital,                                              my parents did go.                                                        Only to find out,                                                          my appendix was about to burst.                                    The next morning my dad came in,                                  he was carrying a beautiful corsage.                                My very first corsage,                                                      not to wear but to pin to my pillow.                                  In the days to follow,                                                      I smelled the heavenly flowers.                                        I watched as they started to fade away,                            my dad's love and tenderness was always there.
