Tree and the Six Flowers
This spring, below me There were six flowers, and six flowers only My leaves made way for the piercing eyes of the sun Which helped them give way For me to look at their vibrant And different colors; not a moment was silent Not one like the other; not one close to the shade of the other Seemed out of the ordinary; their beauty was all I had ever known The seven of us Alone atop a small hill Like a children's fairytale ‘Tree and the six flowers’ Synthia The lovely Forsythia Her color arose jealousy In the sun herself Tulla My little blushing Tulip So light, almost white But never made me feel pale Violet To give any other name To my Viola Would be an injustice not forgiven Dezita My porcelain Deutzia Brighter than the stars Whiter than the moon Lili Such a rare orange Lily Blessed I am To call her a part of our family Rosy Away from preconceptions She was a gothic mystery Darker than the night sky As spring came to an inevitable end My family withered away Saying, “See you next spring, Tree” Merged into one color, beautiful even together 27 May 2021 The Most Beautiful Flowers You've Seen Blossoming This Spring So Far Poetry Contest Sponsored by: M.
