The Road Trip
"Within the fog the distant mountains strain bruised in shades of lavender and forest green Each angle decomposing in the rain.'' Ascending the car moans as if in pain, while down below the village is serene. "Within the fog the distant mountains strain." Our journey in pure darkness seems in vain surrounded by a blanket…road unseen "each angle decomposing in the rain." These hillsides have a heart and have a brain operating like a natural machine. "Within the fog the distant mountains strain." Next time we will not drive but take the train these mountains can be evil and so mean "each angel decomposing in the rain." The weather never does relent and wane instead becomes more lavish for the scene. "Within the fog the distant mountains strain each angle decomposing in the rain." 5/10/2021 Villanelle Choose Your Form Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Joseph May
