Sonnet Triples, Poet and Time's Thoughtful Musings
Sonnet Triples, Poet And Time's Thoughtful Musings (1.) The Sonnet And The Poetic Query Playing on the crescent hill, moonglow dances, And dying mouse took its usual chances; And wise owl sleeps off the night's happy meal Life shines with its usual little thrills. Eternal watchman, winds the chiming clock Sleep fled -comes every aching tick-tock As ocean waves eat up low sandy shores A sad love-sick mermaid, Neptune implores. On and on goes the rabid churning world Its mysteries wrapped in hidden curls Ah but, tis often the glory one seeks That fails to give but spit and false-set peeks! Dare high heavens to this old parade change? Can mortal flesh ever reach such a range? R. J. Lindley, June 4th, 1981 Sonnet, ( Wherein Fate , Time And Hope So Oft Collides ) And night its cascading dream-webs spins forth. Per somnium nocte Cascading telae egressus deducit *** (2.) She Of Rarest Beauty, Truest Essence Of Love She walks in the garden where dead roses once grew That Aphrodite beauty this poor soul once knew She of precious life, honey -sweet raven hair O' pray I to loving god - to again be there ! For under gold radiance of coming bright moon We shall both dance into that deep romantic swoon In sensual delights, locked in dear loving arms We both enjoying blessings of passionate charms! Yes, she is the one that my daydreams have foretold Soaking in her beauty, on her truth, I am sold As morn sounds yet more soft whispers of faithful love Sun shines its blessings, golden rays cast from above! She walks in the garden where dead roses once grew. An Aphrodite beauty this poor soul once knew! R.J. Lindley, June 9th, 1981 Sonnet, ( Wherein Fate , Time And Hope So Oft Collides ) And under sun's radiant blessings, beauty its fruits offers. Sol radiantibus sub bona fructus praebet speciem. *** (3.) Aching And Breaking Into Tender Bone As Fate points its crooked little finger, In this true-heart your beauty yet lingers Aching and breaking into tender bone A frozen copy of the hardest stone Are the blues of the darken death singer. While life dares the old rainbow to vanish I pray now my dreams can your love banish Was it not romantic truth you slayed As with your vanity you love played Fled to Mexico to love in Spanish. No more illusion, your magic died Same night this soul mercilessly cried A broken victim, saw your wicked lies And unabashedly let out roaring cries! Robert J. Lindley, 3-30-2021 Sonnet, ( Conquering The Ghost Of First Lost Love )
