The Great White Queen - a Poem For Imbolc
I dreamed of a Great White Queen, and she Came galloping through the snow 'I come for the one who called for me' Said she, 'did you call me?' 'No!' For I was afraid, as all good men be Who into the woodland go I dreamed of a Great White Queen, and she Came leading a lamb and a doe 'Come, man' she said, 'and follow me Follow me into the snow' But I was afraid, as all good men be Who into the woodland go I dreamed of a Great White Queen, and she Appeared in an eerie glow Under the bough of a rowan tree Where the first of the snowdrops grow And I was afraid as all good men be Who into the woodland go I dreamed of a Great White Queen, and she Danced light on the virgin snow 'Come, man' she said, 'and dance with me You know that you want to' Oh! And I was as glad as all good men be Who into the woodland go I dreamed of a Great White Queen, and she Disappeared in a swirl of snow But I have seen what she let me see And know what she let me know And I am as mad as all good men be Who into the woodland go © Gail Foster 31st January 2021
