Guardian Angel
Guardian Angel Last night I had a dream. It had a tale to tell. I dreamed I saw an angel he wasn’t feeling well. His body bruised and battered his wings were ripped and torn. This angel he could hardly walk he looked so tired and worn. I walked right up to him and said angel how can this be? He slowly turned and paused a bit and said these words to me. I am your Guardian Angel a great task you can see. You’ve run amok all your life look what it's done to me. My wings are for shielding you in times both dire and ill. Those dangerous drugs you’ve used so much Ive often paid the bill. My wings are ripped and torn a noble badge I wear. How often they have flown you from those evils unaware. Each mark has its own story of deadly wounds destroyed. You’ve made me wish oh more than once that I was unemployed. If only you could make it standing on your own. But don’t you fret or worry yet you won't be left alone. But please try to remember I'm getting old and frail. I bare the weight of all your hate and catch you when you fail. I couldn’t believe all that I had heard let alone how much he cared. I wept upon his shoulder and walked off in despair. That night I prayed out loud ill change oh yes, I'll try. Then in a distance I thought I heard a frail old angel cry.
