I Am So Bored
The phone rang. I looked at the name. Not that one. Not today. Knew she would be whining. Complaining. Poor me. Bored out of my gourd. No time for that. I was building an airplane, and a spaceship. I ran out of my house with every tin can, bottle and screw I could find. My latest obsession is creating sculptures out of found objects. I am singing and whistling as I begin to add on, polish, dust, paint. They are forming up beautifully. I spend six hours. Not bored in the least. For lunch I have a grilled cheese. Wolfing it down as if my tongue is in flames. I have things to do. Pick up my sketchpad and begin. Never out of ideas. Tossing together cartoon after cartoon – faeries, elves, witches, pirates, cats. My I-pad gets a little activity next. I am playing fourteen Scrabble games. I toss down my answers then take a peek at Facebook. Nothing new there. I like new. New is my go-to place. I look at All Poetry. Enter eight contests. My phone rings. I see it is her again, so I let the machine get it. This is Sheba she whines. I am BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRed. Call me. Not on your life. If you have lived to be seventy-two and you still do not know how to entertain yourself, What could I possibly do to help? I go to Pinterest, choose eight photos that speak to my heart and write eight poems. Being able to entertain yourself is Nirvana!
