Vanilla
I remember younger days when the bright sun's golden rays melted those old blues away Bright and green when life was spring hitching on the robin's wing so much to do so much to know and now life drifts within the snow where did the joy of youth go will innocence be in that rainbow's pot of gold Those summer years when I was strong life was easy with love and song the taste of wine upon her lips the smell of jasmine in her hair How do I get back there those summer years honey lush and dawns silver tips my lost summer years without regret What of Autumn when things began well triumphs and victories and overkill my head of hair thinned and soften with gray but a chill disturbs and life's green fades time feels lost and slipping away the reality of death beckons and stays so much to do so much to know please stop shaking me within my snow globe And now you found me my winter's life slower and older trudging within it's strife trying to make do or do without living by stretching every penny out to proud to beg to old to care slushing in circles bound nowhere a glimpse of what use to be the mirror reflects what became of me a body in pain with illness galore bills and medication I cannot afford but still I keep my head up high better to live to easy to die cold and blue the winter years happiness becomes thoughts of yesteryears those days of flavor wild and fun vanilla are what they now become but was I always vanilla I was always vanilla
