A blank page is a challenge, and a blank canvas too. I have nine thousand poems, and my canvases add up to 522. I used to see a blank canvas and my mind would twitch. Will I waste it? How much did it cost? Am I incredibly rich? Now I think of all the money I have spent on expensive paint. If I don’t use it, someone else will, and that would be a taint.
