The Wall of Silence
I tore down the wall of silence That I built inside my heart I listened to my own silent prayer It told me to listen to you It was not a silence of speaking But a silence of hearing Of hearing words of salvation Of faith and hope and surrender Somehow I thought planting My own tobacco would keep me pure Water and sunlight And the Native American soil The Peace Pipe I carved The dreamcatcher I wove The eagle feathers I captures On my pocket telephone I’m tired of looking at women Like they are different car models Cars I cannot afford And rides I’ll never take Somehow I need a gospel A story of good news About where we are headed And what out inheritance is In the super pharmacy They sell a beverage made with wine In a bottle with a cork But it cannot lift you higher © 2020 John “JohnnyArt” Pavlou
