Midwife Crisis
Married to Mary for so many years, Before our differences made us shed tears. We took each other to the court for divorce, Now separated and both full of remorse. Six months have now passed full of sorrow, Then I smile, meeting tomorrow. Now Gladys and I have never met, We found each other on the internet. I'm from England, she's from Timbuktu, Not a raving beauty, but she'll have to do. Being on my own so many problems arose, The first was who is going to iron my clothes. No one around to cook and to clean each day, It would cost me a fortune for a maid to pay. So, Gladys it is, she seems to fit my needs, As time draws near, so do doubtful seeds. Does she really want to marry me? I've no saving graces that I can see. After a lengthy time of thinking hard, I think she wanted to get a green card. Sent her a very polite Dear Jane, Hope never to hear from her again. Need to get my act together now, No more partners for me somehow. I'll try to remember what my wife did, And stop acting like a spoilt kid. I'm not as lazy as you may think, My wife did everything before you could blink. She said it gave her a purpose in life, I need that purpose to hide the pain, As I start living a single life again. © Dave Timperley Nov 8 2020
