Grandma's Bench
“Grandma’s Love” Written by: Rev. Terry D. Butters My grandma came to my house, of course, just to visit me. Not really, she came to greet my family, all of us she’d see. With grandma you must be patient, each of us get special time. Some stood beside her, others on her knee would climb. First, she’d ask how we were feeling, our forehead she would feel. Once I had a headache, and her touch seemed to heal. She always brought a special bag, it contained a special treat. It always sat beside her, on the porch bench that was her seat. Grandma asked me if I’d been good, I always answered, “Yes.” She asked if I really was, or if I’d made a guess. She smiled and said, “I’m kidding, you do the things you should. I’m proud of each of you, I have heard that you’ve been good. I am now agrandpa, and family visits I must pay. I must find my treat bag, I’m going on one today. My grandma lives in heaven, she no longer is around. But as I carry on my visits, on her bench she can be found.
