Her Last Client, Part I
Growing up Roxanne learned that a woman could do anything that was done by a man, that it was wrong to have different standards, and this point of view informed all her plans. She was aggressive in her relationships, and would let no man talk down to her, most boyfriends did not stick around too long, as she grew through her teens it just got worse. Not that she was ever wanting for sex, she was attractive, could turn any head, and liked some action as much as any man, she always found men to take to her bed. And she recognized this as empowering, Roxanne was owning her sexuality, claiming the joy denied to past sisters, since women had fought so long to be free. When Roxanne graduated from high school she didn’t exactly excel at grades, and a college would mean mountains of debt, it seemed a lot to find a job that paid. But then while driving to Vegas with friends, she passed a long house in the desert sands, it was one of the state’s legal brothels, and it seemed a solution was at hand. She then planned it out, she would work for ten years, and put a million away, set for life. at thirty she would quit, and find her real man to give her children, and make her a wife. A few months later she went to the door, and was hired on as a courtesan, she found it easier than she had thought, would love all comers, either woman of man. And Roxanne made money, oh yes, how she did, breached six figures in her very first year, told her parents she worked for a 'Vegas firm,' she didn’t want them to have any fears. She didn’t go by her real name, of course, all of her clients knew her as ‘Maya Dream. She learned quick to fake passion and connections, men paid more if they saw your smile beam. Roxanne stuck to her plans, worked there ten years, made two million selling pleasure to folks, and when she announced that she would be leaving many regulars came for one last poke. On her last day, her last client came in, he’d visited her half-a-dozen times before, and ironically the man’s name was John, he took his time, bought four hours to score. He was half-decent, and she had some fun, no use not enjoying making money, they had time aftewards so they lay in bed, enjoying simulated intimacy. She told him that he was her last client, he grinned and asked,”So tell me, what comes next?” She said, “A home, some kids and a husband.” A surprise look on his face soon was etched.
