We Could Live In the Woods Full Time
You know, we could sell the house and live in the woods full time. My husband laughed with a bit of a snort, maybe thinking I was kidding. Seriously, I said. If we sold it, we would have traveling money. We could buy a camper or something. Just travel around, meeting people. What would we do with our stuff? He asked me. He is the practical one. We could burn it up or toss it in dumpsters or let the wildlife carry it off. He is silent for a few minutes. What about the grandchildren? We could go by their schools and steal them from their classes and take them. We both started laughing at this idea because we have ten grandchildren. You know, we could build a barn and put some of your stuff in there, my husband said. What does that have to do with being out in the woods, camping? Relaxing? It might be more relaxing if there was less stuff. Let’s just burn everything, I say. Burn it all up. The kids will when we are gone anyway. We start laughing about this, realizing how right it is. They don’t want any of this stuff. But do we? I think about this conversation. It is not that farfetched. But wait. How could I use an internet if we were on the road? I look at my husband and he nods. Knowing.
