Serenity
Serenity Too long my soul, Separated by Uninvited city noise And fleeting seconds - Robbed of opportunity To meet in blended rhapsodies Of pure autumnal hues – Reassuring arms, gathering us in Like bright scarlet umber, Rest like folded hands When I forget how dearly You need to harvest calm from frosty nights On mountainsides of fluttering aspens Wearing diadems of radiant gold - Taking in tranquility From iridescent neon sunsets; Turning from the sizzling heat of summer’s breathing Searing innocence with masked skepticism – By murmuring lakeshores Resting – rippling – undulating – Awaiting soft sung cradlesongs of renewal; You turn your eyes From the hallucinations dancing in the life of city lights More enchanted by hypnotic snowstorms Of falling leaves gathered at your feet Sipping evening spice As velvet twilight extends - swaddled into approaching darkness A smile of peacefulness - an invitation to become one again – To hint of amber tinted moons When zephyrs change their cloaks to cloudy vesper winds When mists ride on their whispers to leave a glittering sheen On the abundance of harvest’s open hand; My soul let us renew our vows of unity in placid stillness – Let us cling! Let us toast! Let us celebrate With the bubbling wine of ripened, overwhelming fermentation Our long desired reunion. 8-22-20 Contest: Serenity Emerging Sponsor: Regina McIntosh
