Never Quite Home To Me 2
Family and friends may not agree Perhaps they recall being happy and free There's much to be said where I use to roam These are my personal feelings and mine alone My birth place was tolerable but never home to me A sheltering abode but never a place of permanency The feel of something that I was only passing through In seventeen years, never a delightful destination to go to My beautiful family, friends, and relatives were great Beyond that, literally everything else was up for debate I have heard it said that home is where your story begins I did not want my place of origin to be where my story ends My childhood memories are mixtures of the bitter and the sweet Repeatedly, the bad and the ugly always tried their best to defeat But it was God and the good people that kept me on my feet The feel of a 'holding cell' of scattered dreams and nightmares A place of extreme poverty, and heartbreaking despair filled the air All the king's horses and all the king's men could not hold me there Ambitions could be born there, but their fulfillment was unlikely and rare I've learned to make lemonade from lemons, but It makes me sad to think this way. But my heart was never left there, and it feels so much more like home where I am today. 081220PSCtest, Strand Completely New(22), Brain Strand
