George Floyd
‘I Can’t Breathe’ Please, man, please, But officer gives me a harder squeeze, Mounting his full body weight on me, Like a white horse crushing a blackbird, I just want to be free, But he refuses to move his knew, Am I so dangerous? That you kept me there long enough to make a chorus, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe man, I can’t … Like the devil’s wrath, His trying to show me hell, I call out ‘momma’ Knowing that we will reunite in heaven, My spirit lifts, Once the world receives my gift, The gift of love, justice and peace, May we all accept this lesson, So that we can have progression, Please let my gift be valuable, Please let my 9 mins of pain, fear and suffering- Be worth it, Though I can no longer breathe, I want every black person to be able to breathe, To finally be able to talk, to finally be free, And to finally be listened to So that the world can do what is due. ‘Daddy Changed The World’ Daddy changed the world, From his death that occurred, Just a family man, trying to create a plan, Daddy hoped to bring in more money, So that our days could be sunny, But now streams of rain flow down my face, Knowing that he is now in a different place, But daddy’s spirit still lives on, Like a leaf blowing in the wind, I know that he will touch every continent, He is the monument, Of peace, liberation and equality, My dad is the constant reminder, That black lives matter, And that our blood needs to stop being splattered, Because taking an innocent life, Only causes strife, Father I pray that all those monsters, Who hate someone because of the colour of their skin, Will look within, And realise that were all the same, And that being black is not a shame, Love needs to be poured into the world, So that we can treat each other like pearls.
