The Splashing River
The river When we met Was splashing Both the banks I was A little nervous I wanted to swim In case I sank? The other day There was a report In the newspaper As he was ardently fondling The pulsating blonde neck and throat In a prolonged prelude Splashing the crushing waves From the climbing passion She died of asphyxiation The rippling sound Crippling crests Suggesting silhouettes Engaging my pen With vignettes While eyes focused At the waves Gently swashing against the shore Knocked on the door Making me forget The after and before Are you crazy A voice out of the mist Called out The luxurious river Is in full tide this evening Come away The splashy call However, was louder Resembling an ocean Too gorgeous to stop The blueberry emotions Looking at The currents hitting the anchor Waters lapping the land The blue water darkening in twilight I waited with the key The lock was restive As I splashed my thoughts Many a leaf fell from the tree Quite a few, however, were stubborn ________________________________________ 4 June 2020 Splash Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Kai Michael Neumann
