Rage
We are all sinners none of us saints But those who came before us Were a powerful race They made it their mission To keep what was theirs They did it with dignity And some with despair They showed us a way of life that they knew Would help us survive in a world so new But we took the advantage And took away their rights I wonder what it felt like To sleep back in those times Waiting for the scalping Or the next woman raped Waiting for the fires The murders The raids They showed us their traditions And sometimes their rage Got the better of them Why is that such a shame? They had a right and they had a privilege What if one day we had the same things Happen to us: I wonder often this Is this not how the enemies Are treating us now? ©Copyright May 25, 2007 by Danielle N.
