Brave New World
I was sitting out on the veranda, Gazing at natures extravaganza. In the shimmering heat of the day, Even the flying pests were kept at bay. Looking at all the plants in pots, Wilting under the oppressive heat. In the distance I see Paphos by the sea, The cooling Mediterranean Sea, Out of bounds to you and me. This lockdown due to an indiscriminate virus, Is making life hard for all of us. We stay within the bounds of our property, Making life good in comfortable safety. One day, which we all hope will come soon, When we can emerge from within our cocoon To a bright new world and a new way to live, A new 'normal' we all must learn to adapt. For if we don't, we could, once more, be trapped. Care for each other, look after our world. This lockdown has shown that we can live together, Wars have been abated as nations have had to unite, Against a common enemy for us to survive on earth. This virus has killed many, but, like a Phoenix rising, It has given Earth a new rebirth. Now is our chance. © Dave Timperley 18/05/2020
