Assault
Tuesday morning, like no other. Another morning working in the mated Goliaths. Harming no one, just doing their job. Droning engines, one then another. Slamming home, ball of fire, Many go fast, more suffer on, Flames hotter than foreseen. Pandemonium ensues. Levitation ceases, sprinklers run dry. Regular Joe, helping strangers, Coming together in their time of need. Heros respond, rushing in head first. Just to help, few survive. Screaming, yelling, crying, choking, dying. Human heart swells, compassion grows, Then the bottom dropped out. Thousands, surfing through a sea of flames. Young and old together. The world weeps as the flames slowly reside Still too hot to reveal all the wounds within. Why must they unravel the threads of freedom?
