That Sinking Feeling
Skipping my mind across the lake Sinking sinking With each breath I take Looking up a gurgling sound Breath escaping My feet tightly bound I can still remember Your hand on my face Heart beating fast Feeling out of place The car ride was bumpy in the dark tiny trunk Arms tightly bound feeling woozy and drunk Yes I was the witness to that horrible crime I was there for my murder Now I’m suspended in time You fit me with shoes Custom made for the deep I guess an accountant has too many secrets to keep As I sank oh so slowly There was one consolation The beauty of detail was my preoccupation A letter will arrive In a few short days my friend Yes by registered mail What you started will end Because details are my trade All your crimes big and small Except for my murder They’ll be revealed one and all
