Waiting For An Oil Change
Sat on a bench in the park under the sun. Shaded by an oak with the breeze soothing my skin. Watching joggers, jogging, cyclist, cycling I look at the goal posts inviting a shot. The grass is green brown, Because it’s been so hot So many people walking As if time has stood still I wish I had time or time to kill But as always I’m working, Earning, struggling along The gusty breeze is just enough Not too strong It’s cool where I sit Watching innocent dogs They don’t know it’s wrong To cause a mess and a pong A woman walks by Her life on the phone And a pensioner in a blue top jogging alone Mothers with energetic kids And tired already As the child slips, The mum smiles, 'Go steady!' And time stands still While I wait for the call, You’re oils changed Dave, But nothing's changed at all.
