Optimistic Faith
A new beginning has risen A chance to spread my wings Taking flight into the world Exploring what it has to offer. Let’s do this. Journals of life’s lessons, Elder’s whispers of wisdom And the Word Guide me along my way I can do this. Time passes in shifts Sometimes slowly Other times faster than I can keep up with Did I miss something? So much has happened yet It seems so little has come about I reflect back on past decisions for Reassurance and accountability Seems like I missed a few things. As I approach the forked road Setting free will into overdrive Nonchalantly creating my own path Doing as I saw fit by way of “my laws” Yeah, I got this. Time began taking its toll Complacency became my norm Days and nights blurred together Like faded colors on canvas I thought I had this. Desperation and worry became My day’s beginning and ending Doors were opening to brick walls Everywhere I turned then faded away And in the midst of my reality, I knelt. It was all I knew of left to do I prayed for what seemed like Hours on end as the weight Of my negativity lightened I think I can get it right this time. Looking back at my past I realized the path I chose Could’ve come with the ultimate price Had I not seen the error of my ways I should’ve listened the first time. The moral of this story is: Life isn’t life without others That’s why we keep journals Heed the wisdom of our elders And have the Word as our guide I got it now, I’ll get it right this time.
