Safe Havens
Safe Havens The house is quiet. It is past the hour of dawn, and before the hour of noon. Yet, nothing is moving. The world here... is upside down. The Light walks in places, yet full of shadows, to run them back to the edge. He always guards the gate, and makes sure, the dogs, are aware of all who come, and go... The motion of air swirling, slowly changing colors, the passing of feathers, angel wings... and shiny weapons, of ice and flame. Equally deadly, and oddly beautiful, at the same time. The lightning sometimes strikes, in the middle of the day, while few sleep, and many listen, but do not see. It is painful, but numbing. Until you are no longer aware, that you have been attacked. A force beyond the water's edge, playing in the muck and middle. To kill and drag back for later... eating. Swim strongly, the center of the river is deep. Float along if you must, but do not give up.
