Stone
Stone By Lola I am a stone made with love and demand I am a place where people wander deaf and blind The prophesies laid out in journals long time ago I chose instead to hide away the wrinkles in my skin I am a stone rolling down the hill without a care at all The echoes are the greedy sand, wearing down the edges May the world wear me down to a glossy outer shell To drop into a well where echoes surrender to the darkness I am a stone collecting speed with vengeance on my mind Collecting hatred in a pyre; a man engulfed in flames Let’s start an epic fire and see these dreams turn Into ash They love my flawless shell; a hunter without teeth I am a stone that finds the edge and screams into the night With Nothing on my mind; a love found in decline I used to be a rock that soft skin never touched But now I’m falling down; into a life I never planned I am a broken stone; lifeless on the canyon floor I hit the ground in spite; and fell apart without a sound My edges rough again; the wind is howling now A thousand stones stand in defiance and ground my carnal need for violence I am so many rugged stones My edges slowly wearing down My consciousness expands to everywhere at once Eventually my stones fall to the ocean, one by one The ripples that I make are witnessed by the echoes in the night I am a stone idly resting at the bottom of the ocean floor With Many stones around me; I can’t tell where I end or they begin I listen to the ocean floor and hear the echoes ripple past Finally realizing that Im just like you; lost as hell and just as used Ending with a bang, I feel the world begin to whisper I am the mountain top; the world below that lifts me up Stepping on my peak; they climb me for the view Their boots kick off a little stone; slowly rolling down the slope Forgetting, Forgetting... I’m always forgetting... Where I begin And where I end
