The Snoozing Dragon
There lived a huge green dragon, sleeping in a cave A little boy decided, he would be very brave He gazed upon the dragon, then prodded him with a stick The dragon woke up, belching flames, the boy jumped back quick! Opening one of its eyes, the dragon looked around Then he espied the little boy sitting on the ground WHAT are you doing child? Why did you wake me up? I was having a lovely dream before you were so abrupt I’m sorry said the boy, as he looked the dragon in the eye Someone dared me to do it, that is the reason why But what if I were to eat you boy, said the dragon with a grin Please, oh, please don’t eat me! I will never do it again Calm down said the dragon; I don’t eat girls or boys Now get on my back, I will fly you home to stop this dreadful noise So the boy climbed on the dragon, there to comfortably sit Then came the sound of mighty wings as they took off at a clip With gasps and screams from the boys friends, the dragon landed down The sight caused such a stir; it was the talk of the town But now the dragon soundly sleeps, his snores as loud as thunder And he will not be disturbed again, in case you should wonder… For anyone who goes to that cave, will see a big locked door So now, you cannot wake him up, but you can hear him snore…
