Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required I sing to the Sun with a thousand songs to atone For her loss of strength and glow that's faded thin And has exiled the strength of her rightful throne To convey the sunset in the demise of our children I drift aimlessly with a thousand clouds turning With the shapes and silhouettes of smoky Swans That lament their tears for tomorrow's bleak yearning Their fall from grace - their dying throngs I dance with the moon with a thousand eyes to gaze As it pales amidst a blanket of a trillion stars Its beams of fire lies dormant - He hides his face In the darkest corner of this shame of ours I drown in the ocean of a thousand regrets Submerged as its predicated horror presides And life grapples with pollution and poison begets The gasping in infested waters of mass genocide I walk with the wounded earth of a million years Its axis slowing with the pain of extinction My gait is weighted and heavy - bitter with fear As rain turns to acid and wind blows dull corrosion I speak to the soil with ten thousand prayers And weep with tears that water the vernal promise To rise above the landfill graveyard's despair To warm the buried seeds, that dwell and spate upon us In the marrow of goodness and survival of forgiveness Flourish flowers of splendor may still bloom with love For the fruits of our labor are destiny's witness That our end will sow a new dawning above Beyond our careless travesties so willful to deny Our garden-our sun, stars, moon and earth This vile misdeed to nature's vigilance does cry Be Us the Sentinel, the dutiful gardener to give life and rebirth November 21, 2019 All About the Environment Poetry Contest Sponsored by Richard Lamoureux
