Sweet Lies
Sweet Lies I listen to everything you say. “I love you.” You are important. Do you know that? Did you know that when you looked away? Did you forget? Too late to remember, so you just let me believe… I powered on, trying to make “us”, everything “we” were supposed to be. I was sick, but still I moved forward. All the time I serviced you. You ate the food I fixed. You wore the clothes that I washed. I cared for “our” children, in ways I thought showed my love, to… you. In my efforts to be all that I painted, a picture I could never be… I learned clearly that I was alone, in the gallery, of our family album. “Pefect-ville” in my heart, making candy tarts. Connecting the dots for others, and praying God would send me… new colors for my pictures. The ones I still need to draw. All the rest of everything has turned to black, and gray… while I was dreaming. Truly, I had not noticed until you left.
