Fell Back Again
I took a walk through the depths of my soul Truth be told I didn't know what I'd find There were signs of corrosion And many of the monoliths were crumbling But sitting on the steps of one Was but a mere child with my eyes Gesturing at all of the ruin That I myself had unleashed Those eyes were sorrow filled eyes Eyes filled with angst and anger Eyes ashamed of everything I represent For they are the eyes that know I became everything I vowed not to Everything I ran from as a child But I can't bring comfort to those eyes Not as I am now and my path is clear I'll have to set myself on fire And hope from the ashes I arise a phoenix Otherwise I'll die a burnout Who never achieved his dreams I hurt myself more than anyone else ever could By convincing myself I was all alone But here on this day I wonder If I fell back again Would anyone be there to catch me
