I Stand
I stand alone amidst a crowd Surrounded by their laughter, The ever numbing sound of joy Life’s “happily ever after” I fear the day, they’re bound to come To look me in the eyes To tell me that these promises Are nothing more than lies But they never say that They just tell me to wait And as I sit here I grow bitter with hate There are times I want to sprint out When I can’t take it anymore But its too obvious, they’ll notice me So I gradually move towards the door And every time I’m almost out I can completely throw it all away Some extraordinary thing happens To make me want to stay So I stick around Strive a little longer Wait with more patience And work a little harder I stand amidst a crowd But I am not alone I’m reminded of the joy and love I had forgotten, but have always known
