My Friend 'Yank'
When very young, I had a very close friend name "Yank". His real name was James, but everyone called him 'Yank". I never knew nor cared at the time where he got "Yank". As I grew older, I have often wondered about his "Yank". We lost touch with each other after high school more than 50 years ago, but a memory of him appeared to me in a dream last night. In the dream, I took four steps towards the center of the roadway and stopped. I looked in all four directions and not a thing did I see until I looked up and saw a canopy filled with stars, one of which looked right into my eyes and through the core of my entire being. I felt the penetration of its eyes like beams or rays of energy. The star beheld my astonishment and appeared to be a bit amused by my expression of wonderment. That star had accomplished its mission of touching base and communicating with me. That friendly star bowed, smiled, blinked, and after a little while, disappeared into the night sky like a falling star, and like an old childhood friend unseen or heard from since high school. This dream reminded me so deeply of my friend, and Oh how I would love to see "Yank" again. 01262019PoSoup
