A Piece of Me
When a sculpture is made, when art is created, it has color, dimension, that lay a foundation for a feeling. It's more than a single line or shape. Its whole composition that makes it worth seeing. Using a pallet of words, and my experience as clay. I will sculpt a story for you today. A story that me and my brother share. Please give me your attention and show me you care. This sculpture that has many dimensions, is an example of all human beings . We are complex, shaped how we view our experiences, thoughts, and feelings. therefore, our words and behaviors we use today, may affect people immeasurable ways. So please do not limit your expectations of me, due to what you think is my ability It’s very aggravating for me to see how people using a word incorrectly to define me. they create a view me that is 1D, and then they view my accomplishments insignificantly Autism. Yes, this is a part but it’s not all, it’s only a single color, a single line a single word used to define. I am so much more than one dimension word. I just want what i’m able to do be heard. I am a blackbelt a martial artist. I am an excellent worker I try my hardest. I am a college graduate, a worker for the state. I read my own poems that I create. Autism is only a part of me. So, don’t lock up my potential and throw away the key. There is much more that exists in me for people to see. Autism just allows me to see the world a little differently. It’s not a thorn in my side it’s an overlooked ability. Just like Einstein and Edison let my potential be free.
